Will try to keep these reviews in something like time order, with the earliest first: so that credit goes to those who spotted early that something special was going on. This section is divided into in-depth reviews, short reviews and comments so that only the more substantial pieces are in the in-depth review section. We are also trying to find out from any reviewer how many games plays their review as based on ... as this can be useful information.
Autumn 2006 and an increasing number of reviews ... and expecting to provide more links shortly.
In-Depth Reviews
If you go to BoardGameGeek, the most comprehensive english language game resource on the internet, you can see the in-depth reviews of Pacru or Azacru or Shacru on the site
For German speakers there are now 3 reviews which you can access via www.luding.org the massive German games database. This is the link to the Pacru page
For German speakers there is a medium length review in the May 2006 edition of the Austrian Games Magazine WIN Das Spielemagazine Issue 353 which is a subscription based PDF publication. We hope to have an extract from the review here.
The German reviews can be put through automatic transalation into English by Google or Altavista Babel Fish but the results are not generally very successful - we hope to get some extracts from the reviews on the site in English.
Ben Baldanza published a short review of Pacru in the excellent UK published games magazine Counter. The magazine is printed (i.e. not on the Internet). We will be seeing if we can get permission to reprint this. US/Australian readers can subscribe to Counter via Funagain Games whereas the contact info appears to be up-to-date for the UK at Counter contact details
[review in French but you can get www.altavista.com/tr or google etc to translate]
Michel Richard's positive summary and translation and excellent images too of 101.
We asked some tourists and locals on the street in Manchester to say something about the Pacru 101 set. It is claimed, though it's not on tape, that one of them said "It's like chess, but without the dice". Had a search on the net and can't find any other instances of this great quote.
